Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) outline the agreement between Step-Ahead Renovations & Designs LTD (“the Company”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) and the “Client” (“you”, “your”) for all design, renovation, installation, and building works undertaken by the Company.
By accepting a quotation, signing a contract, or making any payment or deposit to Step-Ahead Renovations & Designs LTD, the Client confirms full acceptance of these Terms.
1. Scope of Works
1.1. The Company will perform the works described in the accepted quotation or proposal (“the Works”).
1.2. Any changes, additions, or variations requested by the Client after acceptance must be agreed in writing and may affect price or schedule.
1.3. Quotations are valid for 30 days from issue unless stated otherwise.
2. Payment Terms
2.1. All quotations and invoices issued by Step-Ahead Renovations & Designs LTD are based on the following standard staged payment structure, calculated from the labour portion of the project price unless otherwise stated:

Commitment Payment – 30%
This payment secures your project start date and enables Step-Ahead Renovations & Designs LTD to allocate labour, assist with design and fixture selection, and prepare for ordering and scheduling. This payment is due upon quotation acceptance and prior to commencement.
Milestone 1 – 30%
Due upon completion of core preparatory stages, including plumbing, plastering, and waterproofing, with walls fully prepared for tiling.
Milestone 2 – 30%
Due upon completion of wall and floor tiling and the installation of the bathtub or shower tray (whichever applies).
Final Payment Upon Customer Approval – 10%
Due once the Client confirms satisfaction with the completed works and all snagging issues identified during the final inspection have been resolved.
2.2. Payments must be made via bank transfer to the Company’s official business account unless otherwise agreed in writing.
2.3. Invoices are due within two (2) working days of issue unless stated otherwise. Late payments may incur interest at 4% above the Bank of England base rate, applied daily until full payment is received.
2.4. The Client may not withhold milestone payments due to minor or unrelated issues; only the final 10% may be temporarily withheld until snagging is completed.
2.5. Materials or fixtures supplied directly by the Client are excluded from this structure unless noted in the quotation.
2.6. Failure to make a scheduled payment within two (2) working days entitles the Company to suspend works under Clause 3.
3. Right to Suspend Works
3.1. If any agreed payment is delayed by more than two (2) working days, Step-Ahead Renovations & Designs LTD reserves the right to pause all site activities without liability for delay.
3.2. Suspension does not constitute abandonment of the project. Works will resume promptly once payment is received, subject to scheduling availability.
3.3. Costs arising from remobilisation, additional storage, or re-delivery of materials shall be borne by the Client.
3.4. The Client accepts that delayed payments may extend project timelines.
4. Materials and Supply
4.1. Unless otherwise stated, the Company will supply all construction materials required for the Works and will provide receipts at the end for reimbursements which should be paid at full even with the delivery charges.
4.2. Where the Client supplies items or fixtures, the Company accepts no liability for defects, incompatibility, or resulting delays.
4.3. All unused or surplus materials remain the property of the Company unless specifically invoiced.
5. Access and Site Conditions
5.1. The Client must provide clear access to the property during normal working hours.
5.2. Delays caused by restricted access, absence of keys, or similar client-related issues may result in additional charges.
5.3. Adequate electricity, water, and waste facilities must be available.
5.4. The Client is responsible for obtaining any necessary planning or building-control approvals.
6. Quality and Workmanship
6.1. Step-Ahead Renovations & Designs LTD guarantees that all work will be executed with reasonable skill and care in accordance with industry standards.
6.2. Natural variations in colour or texture of materials are not considered defects.
6.3. All workmanship is covered by a 12-month warranty unless otherwise stated.
6.4. The warranty excludes misuse, accidental damage, or interference by third parties after completion.
7. Snagging and Remedial Works
7.1. A final snagging inspection may be carried out jointly with the Client upon completion.
7.2. Any snagging issues must be reported within 7 days of completion.
7.3. Genuine workmanship-related snags will be rectified promptly.
7.4. The existence of snagging items does not justify withholding milestone payments.
8. Delays and Force Majeure
8.1. The Company will use all reasonable efforts to meet agreed timelines but shall not be liable for delays caused by:
• Extreme weather, supplier shortages, or transport delays
• Client-requested changes or late decisions
• Hidden or unforeseen issues (e.g. leaks, wiring faults, asbestos)
8.2. Force majeure events—such as fire, flood, pandemic, or government restrictions—may justify suspension or termination without liability.
9. Client Obligations
9.1. The Client shall:
• Provide accurate information and drawings prior to start.
• Ensure the work area is clear of valuables and personal items.
• Direct all instructions through the appointed project manager.
9.2. The Client is responsible for maintaining a safe site environment.
10. Right of Entry and Property Protection
10.1. The Company will take reasonable care to protect the Client’s property during the works.
10.2. The Company is not responsible for pre-existing damage or hidden structural defects.
11. Cancellation and Termination
11.1. Either party may terminate the contract if the other materially breaches it and fails to rectify within 7 days of written notice.
11.2. If the Client cancels after commencement, payment remains due for completed work, ordered materials, and non-recoverable costs.
11.3. Deposits are non-refundable once scheduling, procurement, or labour allocation has begun.
12. Liability and Insurance
12.1. Step-Ahead Renovations & Designs LTD maintains full Public Liability and Contract Works insurance in line with UK standards.
12.2. The Company’s total liability shall not exceed the total amount paid for the relevant project.
12.3. The Company accepts no liability for indirect or consequential loss (e.g. rent, accommodation, business interruption).
13. Photographs and Marketing
13.1. The Client grants permission for photographic documentation of the works for record and marketing purposes.
13.2. No personal addresses or identifying details will be disclosed publicly.
14. Feedback, Reviews, and Defamation
14.1. Step-Ahead Renovations & Designs LTD welcomes honest, factual feedback.
14.2. The Client agrees that reviews will be truthful, fair, and based on genuine experience.
14.3. Publishing or posting false, misleading, or defamatory statements that damage the Company’s reputation constitutes breach of contract.
14.4. The Company may issue a written notice requesting removal or correction within 7 days.
14.5. If the content is not removed, the Company reserves the right to initiate legal proceedings for defamation and damages.
14.6. This clause does not restrict lawful consumer rights to express honest opinion, but prohibits malicious or knowingly false claims.
15. Data Protection and Privacy
15.1. Step-Ahead Renovations & Designs LTD complies with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.
15.2. Personal data is used solely for project administration and never sold or shared outside legitimate operational purposes.
16. Dispute Resolution
16.1. Both parties agree to attempt informal resolution before legal proceedings.
16.2. If unresolved, disputes shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales and subject to its exclusive jurisdiction.
17. Acceptance of Terms
By accepting a quotation, paying a deposit, or instructing Step-Ahead Renovations & Designs LTD to commence work, the Client acknowledges and agrees to these Terms of Service in full.
